Prairie Hawks shoot down Marion

Courteney McCrary scored 18 points and Alisa Weiland 17 to lead Prairie past Marion, 62-35, Saturday night in a non-conference girls basketball game at Marion.

The win was the fourth straight for Prairie (4-1) after a season-opening loss.

McCrary knocked down four 3-pointers and Weiland had three.

Madison Dellamuth added 11 points for Prairie.

Michalyn Mohr led Marion (2-2) with 18 points.

Late free throw dooms Marion boys

Marion dropped a squeaker to Maquoketa at home Friday night, 48-47, in Wamac boys basketball.

Marion’s Daly Quinn hit a 3-pointer to tie the game late.

But with 3.2 seconds remaining Jeb Miller was fouled on a rebound and went to the line to shoot two for Maquoketa. He made the first and missed the second.

Marion rebounded and called timeout.  On an inbounds play, Marion’s Isaac Frazier was fouled with 0.8 seconds left on the clock and went to the line for a one-and-one.  He missed the front end and the game was history.

Banes' bombs lead Marion past Maquoketa

MAQUOKETA - Marion's Emi Banes dialed in four 3-pointers and scored 14 points to lead the Indians past Maquoketa, 52-43, Friday night in a Wamac Conference girls basketball game.

Michalyn Mohr added 11 points for Marion (2-1, 2-1). Paige Perkins had nine.

Lexi Biehl led Maquoketa with 14 points and three 3-pointers.

Marion boys fall at Western Dubuque

EPWORTH - The Marion Indians fell behind by 17 points in the first half Tuesday and lost to Western Dubuque, 72-53, in a Wamac Conference boys basketball game in Epworth.

Ty Gunderson led Marion with 12 points in the season opener. Brenden Landuyt scored 10.

T.J. Lake, Nick Webber and Tyler McGovern scored 15 points apiece for Western Dubuque.

Mohr scores 24 in Marion loss

Michalyn Mohr scored 24 points, but Marion came up two points short against Western Dubuque, 53-51, Tuesday night at the Marion gym.

Beth Knapp added 10 points for Marion (1-1, 1-1 Wamac).

Madalyn Welty scored 19 points and Paige Koerpenich added 13 for Western Dubuque.
