Altenhofen leads Prairie by Waterloo West

Lynsey Altenhofen scored 14 points to lead the Prairie girls basketball team in a 55-37 win over Waterloo West in a Mississippi Valley Conference game Friday at Prairie.

Altenhofen popped in four 3-pointers for the Hawks. Sarah Schmitt added 10 points for Prairie (8-7).

Waterloo West fell to 5-10.

Smith-Drahos sparks Prairie in Waterloo

WATERLOO – Max Smith-Drahos scored 23 points to lead the Prairie boys basketball team in an 83-72 win over Waterloo West in a Mississippi Valley Conference game Friday at West.

Cal Clark scored 21 points for the Prairie Hawks (6-6) and Jalen Rima added 20.

Carondis Harris-Anderson had 20 points for the Wahawks (3-7).

Uthoff wrestling up a storm for Hawks

Cedar Rapids Prairie wrestling coach Kane Thompson has known Sam Uthoff for years, ever since he taught Uthoff at Prairie Heights Elementary School in the College Community district.

Thompson liked the kid's spunk even then.

"I knew how active he was and how much of a go-getter he was, from the time he was in first grade," Thompson said Thursday night.

He likes Uthoff even more now as a high school senior at Prairie, where he's the top-ranked wrestler in Class 3A at 132 pounds.

Uthoff raised his record to a sparkling 27-0 Thursday with a pin in 1 minute, 38 seconds as Prairie topped Linn-Mar, 45-22, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet at Prairie.

Usher leads Prairie girls by Panthers

Olivia Usher popped in four 3-pointers scored 16 points to lead the Prairie girls basketball team to a 57-27 win over Mount Pleasant in a non-conference game Tuesday at Prairie.

The Prairie Hawks led 28-16 at halftime and held Mount Pleasant to six field goals on the night.

Prairie improved to 7-7.

D’Jannay Patterson had 11 points for Mount Pleasant (3-10).

Usher leads Prairie girls by Clinton

CLINTON - The Cedar Rapids Prairie girls basketball team moved a step closer to the .500 mark Monday night with a 47-36 victory at Clinton in a non-conference game.

Olivia Usher scored 15 points and Lauren Kuch added 10 as the Hawks raised their record to 6-7. Prairie raced to a 31-14 lead at halftime and settled for the 11-point victory.

Sydney Laufenburg scored 12 points for Clinton (3-11).
