Prairie girls fall at Waterloo West

WATERLOO - The sixth-ranked Waterloo West Wahawks hit twelve 3-pointers Friday night and dumped Prairie, 64-40, in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls basketball game in Waterloo.

Haley Puk, who will play college basketball at Bowling Green, made six 3-pointers and led the Wahawks (13-2) with 22 points. Blaire Thomas, who is headed to Iowa State, scored 16 points for Waterloo West. Kate Letkewicz, who will play at Dartmouth, netted 13.

Cyerra Hutchins and Chrisandra Freeman topped Prairie (6-8, 4-6) with 10 points apiece.

Balanced Hawks beat Wahlert

Andrew Galloro fired a 415 series to lead a balanced Prairie squad past Dubuque Wahlert, 2896-2673. Friday in boys bowling at Lancer Lanes.

Mathew Galloro had high game for the Hawks with a 239. Prairie's top five bowlers all rolled between 380 and 415 series.

Wahlert's Riley Smith had high game of 246 and high series of 457.

Blood's 434 series sends Prairie past Wahlert

Rylee Blood was on fire Friday, rolling games of 202 and 232 for a 434 series that paced Prairie past Dubuque Wahlert, 2777-2303, at Lancer Lanes.

Hailey Tollefson rolled a 224 game and 418 series for the Hawks.

No.4 Prairie falls to No.7 IC West

IOWA CITY - Chris Walters pinned Zack Fiser in the meet's final match to break a 30-all tie and lift No.7 Iowa City West past No.4 Prairie, 36-30, at West High School.

Prairie routed Cedar Falls, 52-18, in its other match.

Prairie used pins by Josh Wenger and Trey Blaha and led West 22-6 after Nick Hogan posted a win at 170 pounds.

But the Hawks won only two more matches - major decisions by Marcus England at 106 and Sam Uthoff at 120. Uthoff's win forged a 30-all tie.

Prairie girls miss Dellamuth in loss

The Cedar Rapids Prairie girls basketball team scored only 11 points in the first half Tuesday night and lost to Dubuque Hempstead, 47-36, in a Mississippi Valley Conference game at Prairie.

Prairie star Madison Dellamuth missed the game due to the flu.

Ashley Dolan led Hempstead with 17 points. Gabbrielle Riley scored 12 points and Danielle Wagner had 10.

Cyerra Hutchins led Prairie (6-7) with eight points. The Hawks trailed at halftime, 24-11.
