Marion boys pop into soccer rankings

The Marion Indians jumped into the boys soccer rankings Wednesday as the No.12 team in Class 2A, according to the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association.

This is the first time Marion has been ranked all year.

The Metro area now has six teams in the rankings.

The Class 3A rankings show Kennedy at No. 4, Linn-Mar at No. 5, Washington at No.6 and Prairie at No. 11.

The Class 2A rankings have Xavier at No. 4 and Marion at No. 12.

No. 11 Warriors blank Hempstead

Connor Geuder scored the only goal of the match Tuesday night as 11th-ranked Washington nipped Dubuque Hempstead, 1-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference game at Kingston Stadium.

Emmanuel Hidalgo-Wohlleben collected an assist for the Warriors.

Gunnar Lenzen pitched a shutout for Washington in goal.

Warriors roll to pair of victories

Cedar Rapids Washington won 17 of 18 matches Saturday en route to a pair of boys tennis wins at Washington.

Jackson Hoyt defeated Jackson Takes, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 in the morning dual, leading the Warriors to an 8-1 win over Dubuque Wahlert.

Washington came back in the afternoon to post a 9-0 win over Dubuque Senior.

Wash girls blank J-Hawks in tennis

Lilly Hartman defeated Kylie Jonas, 10-0, at No.1 singles Friday as Washington blanked Jefferson in a Mississippi Valley Conference tennis meet at Jefferson.

Hannah Sherman, Rina Moore, Jennifer Greif, Kelly King and Callie Cook also won their singles matches for the Warriors.

Wash boys sink Hempstead in tennis

Jackson Hoyt defeated Jeff Teng at No.1 singles in a tiebreaker Friday as the Washington Warriors blanked Dubuque Hempstead, 9-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference tennis meet at Washington.

Ian Schweiger, Parker Muller, Oliver Hammond, Dane Van Antwerp and Ian McElree won their singles matches in straight sets for the Warriors.
