Foreman wins 126 title at Cascade

CASCADE - Will Foreman of Cedar Rapids Washington captured the 126-pound title at the Cascade Invitational wrestling tournament Saturday.

Foreman won by injury default in the championship round. He also collected a pin and major decision, raising his record to 21-1.

Logan Black-Marchard placed second at 145 pounds for the Warriors. Chris Karamitros (132) and Tyonchi Johnson (152) finished third for Washington.

Mount Vernon won the title with 246 points. Washington finished sixth out of 10 teams.

Williams, Wills pace Washington boys

EPWORTH - Laveechie Williams and Keion Wills had big outings Saturday as the Washington Warriors tripped Western Dubuque, 65-55, in a non-conference basketball game in Epworth.

Williams collected a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Wills popped in three 3-pointers and scored 20 points.

Ian Thomas contributed 10 points for the Warriors (5-6) and Hunter Strait had five assists.

Jordan Lake scored 16 points for Western Dubuque (8-5).

Kelley leads Warriors at Voss Invy

Cameron Kelley of Washington captured the 500 freestyle and tied for first in the 200 freestyle Saturday at the Jim Voss Invitational swimming meet at Washington High School.

Kelley claimed the 500 free in 4:48.05 and tied Nathan Spencer of Bettendorf in the 200 free in 1:46.14.

Nick Saulnier won the 100 back for Washington in 52.94 seconds.

Bettendorf won the meet with 328.5 points. Washington finished fourth out of six teams with 239.5 points.

The Warriors got second-place finishes from Saulnier in the 200 IM, Kaleb Donels in the 100 backstroke, the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.

Washington boys nip City High

The Washington boys bowling team escaped with a 23-pin win by beating Iowa City High, 2,658 to 2,635, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet Friday at Lancer Lanes.

Donovan Trumble rolled a 224 game and a 425 series for the Warriors.

Logan Crawford led the Little Hawks with a 363 series.

IOWA CITY HIGH: Logan Crawford 211-152=363, Adam Fiale 166-194=360, Andrew Franz 201-154=355, Cameron Chavez 202-138=340, Garrett Highly 213-124=337, Austin Young 181-145=326.

Wash girls trimmed by City High

The Iowa City High girls bowling team edged Washington, 2,495 pins to 2,423, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet Friday at Lancer Lanes.

Shania Christensen rolled a 234 game and 461 series to lead the Warriors.

Shyneice Cirillo had a 348 series for the Little Hawks.
