Warriors cruise to 2 victories in girls tennis

The Cedar Rapids Washington girls tennis team rolled to a pair of impressive wins Saturday, downing Dubuque Hempstead, 9-0 and Dubuque Wahlert, 8-1.

Washington's only loss came at No. 3 singles against Wahlert.

Warriors claim Dave Meyer tennis title

The Cedar Rapids Washington boys tennis team rolled up 129 points Saturday and won the Dave Meyer Invitational at the Veterans Tennis Center.

Parker Muller won No.2 singles for the Warriors. Ian Schweiger and Oliver Hammond claimed No.1 doubles for the Warriors.

Jackson Hoyt placed second at No.1 singles for Washington.

Warriors top Saints in boys tennis

Ian Schweiger, Parker Muller, Oliver Hammond, Dane Van Antwerp and Ian McElree won their singles matches Thursday as Cedar Rapids Washington defeated Xavier, 8-1, in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys tennis meet at Xavier.

Kyle D'Mello of Xavier clipped Jackson Hoyt at No.1 singles, 6-4, 6-1.

Schweiger and Hammond teamed for a 6-3, 7-5 victory over D'Mello and Ben Curly at No.1 doubles.

Kigin scores twice for Wash girls

Katie Kigin scored two goals Thursday as Cedar Rapids Washington topped Iowa City Regina, 3-1, in a girls soccer match at Kingston Stadium.

Annee Cooper tallied the third goal for the Warriors. Maggie Clair colleced an assist in the game.

No.1 Trojans top No.4 Warriors in soccer

IOWA CITY — Iowa City West won an early-season showdown with Cedar Rapids Washington in boys soccer Thursday night.

The top-ranked Trojans defeated the fourth-ranked Warriors, 2-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference match in Iowa City.

Antonio Sanchez and Ben Troester scored for Iowa City West.
