Printy sparks Warriors by Prairie

Jared Printy scored 23 points Friday night and Maurice Arrington added 14 as Cedar Rapids Washington clipped Prairie, 65-48, in a Mississippi Valley Conference game at Prairie.

JoJo Simpson had 17 points and Michael Mims collected 12 for Prairie (4-13, 2-10).

Washington raised its records to 4-13 overall and 4-8 in the league.

 

Franklin, Hobbs send Wash past Prairie, 58-49

Dani Franklin scored 20 points and Aleena Hobbs added 16 to power eighth-ranked Washington past Prairie, 58-49, Friday night in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls basketball game at Prairie.

Kandis O'Donnell added 10 points for Washington (15-4, 10-1).  Franklin had 10 rebounds.

Cyerra Hutchins scored 18 points and Olivia Usher 17 for Prairie (6-13, 4-7).

Washington led by five points at halftime and by six after three quarters.

Cline shoots 456, Warriors rally past Hawks

Washington overcame a 59-pin deficit to beat Prairie, 2861-2850, Friday in boys bowling at Lancer Lanes.

Bryan Cline led the Warriors with games of 227 and 229 for a 456 high series. Kyle Kaness had a 439 series for Washington.

Prairie was led by Andrew Galloro, who rolled a high game of 242 and a 448 series. Josh Kacena had a 413 series.

Prairie held a 59-pin lead after the first round. Washington finally took the lead with a 233 in the fourth game of the Baker round.

Blood's 459 leads Prairie past Wash girls

Rylee Blood had the groove Friday, rolling games of 234 and 225 for a 459 series that led Prairie past Washington, 2809-2718, in girls bowling at Lancer Lanes.

Prairie's Amber Westemeier shot high game of 259 and finished with a 433 series.

Ally Owens had high game of 216 for Washington. Lynze Moon's 377 was high series for the Warriors.

Prairie held a 46-pin lead after the first round.

Schuler, Dills post pins for Warriors

Trey Schuler and Dax Dills had two pins each, but their Washington Warriors were beaten twice Thursday in a double-dual wrestling meet at Washington.

The Warriors were beaten by Iowa City West, 69-12, and by Dubuque Senior, 42-39.

Washington forfeited at seven weights against Iowa City West, and six against Senior.

The Warriors held a three-point lead heading into the final match against Senior. A pin by the Rams' Dan Thoma provided the winning margin.
