Warriors fall to Western Dubuque

EPWORTH - The Washington Warriors were beaten by a three-man gang Saturday.

Spencer Haldeman, Nolan Baumhover and Cole Otting scored all 62 of their team's points as Western Dubuque topped Washington, 62-56, in a non-conference basketball game in Epworth.

Haldeman collected 32 points, eight rebounds and four assists for Western Dubuque. Baumhover contributed 17 points and eight rebounds. Otting furnished 13 points.

Mims sparks Prairie past Warriors

Michael Mims sure knows how to change a game.

Making three spectacular plays that shifted the momentum of the game, the 5-foot-9 junior guard led the Prairie Hawks to a workmanlike 47-41 victory over the Washington Warriors Friday night at Washington.

Prairie won its second game in a row and improved to 4-7 overall and 2-5 in the Mississippi Valley Conference. Washington lost its third straight and slipped to 2-7 overall and 2-5 in the MVC.

Franklin sparks Warriors by Prairie

She hit 3-pointers. She rebounded. She passed the ball. She blocked shots. She even sold popcorn at halftime.

Well, four out of five ain’t bad.

Dani Franklin put on a dazzling do-everything performance for the Washington Warriors Friday night, collecting 27 points, four rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks in a gritty 59-52 win over Prairie at the Warrior gym.

“That’s funny,” Franklin said when asked if she sold popcorn at halftime. “I haven’t heard that one before.”

Pernicka propels Warriors past Lions

Keely Pernicka had the line Friday at Cedar Rapids Bowl, shooting games of 222 and 211 for a 433 series that led Washington past Linn-Mar, 2557-2501, in girls bowling.

Kelly Waters shot a 204 game for the Warriors.

Linn-Mar was led by Brooke McMorran, who shot a high game of 225 and had a 411 series.

Washington held a 36-pin lead after the first round.

Lions roll past Warriors in boys bowling

Seth Tegtmeier rolled a 445 series and teammate Colby Frye a 441 to lead Linn-Mar past Washington, 2955-2624, Friday in boys bowling at Cedar Rapids Bowl.

Andrew Yeisley had high game for Linn-Mar with a 239 en route to a 424 series.

Washington's Bryan Cline was high for the meet, rolling games of 258 and 244 for a 502 series.
