Pernicka powers Warriors past Saints

Keely Pernicka had the line Friday for the Washington girls, rolling a 222 game and 405 series that led the Warriors past Xavier, 2581-1870, in a bowling match at Lancer Lanes.

Kelly Waters had a 207 game for Washington.

Kayla Thompson's 162 was high game for the Saints.

Prairie wrestlers roll by Warriors, Trojans

Prairie lost only one match Thursday and pounded Washington and Waterloo East in a wrestling double dual at Washington.

Prairie flattened Washington 73-3 and Waterloo East 84-0.

Balanced Warriors stroll by Saints

The Franklin & Hobbs Show had a stronger supporting cast for the Washington girls basketball team Thursday night.

It helped immensely.

Twelve players scored points for the Warriors as they bumped off the Xavier Saints, 69-47, in a Mississippi Valley Conference game at Washington.

Dani Franklin netted 22 points and Aleena Hobbs had 15, but the Warriors got another 32 points from the rest of the club to win easily.

Warrior swimmers swamp Cedar Falls

CEDAR FALLS - Matt Jackson and Nick Durin were triple winners Thursday night and led Washington to a 118-48 rout of Cedar Falls in a boys swimming meet at Holmes Junior High.

Jackson won the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke. He also swam on the winning 200 medley relay.

Durin won the 100 freestyle and swam on the winning 200 and 400 free relays.

Washington won all but two events.

Warriors' rally splashes Lions' upset bid

Washington claimed the top three places in the 100 breaststroke to build a 12-point margin and held on to beat Linn-Mar, 88-82, Tuesday in a boys swimming meet at the Warriors' pool.

Nick Saulnier, Jared Thorson and Cameron Kelley were triple winners for Washington.

Saulnier won the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke and swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay.

Thorson won the 50 free and 100 butterfly and also swam on the 200 free relay.
