Washington swimmers dunk Cedar Falls

CEDAR FALLS - Nick Saulnier and Cameron Kelley were four-time winners Tuesday as the Washington Warriors dunked Cedar Falls, 98-72, in a Mississippi Valley Conference swimming meet in Cedar Falls.

Saulnier claimed the 200 IM and 100 butterfly and swam on two triumphant relay teams. Kelley notched the 50 free and 500 free and also swam on two victorious relays.

Matt Jackson was a three-time winner for the Warriors. George Durin, Jeremy Throndson and Kaleb Donels won twice apiece.

Wash girls steal win at Grinnell

GRINNELL - The Cedar Rapids Washington girls basketball team collected 25 steals Saturday and tripped Grinnell, 60-55, in a non-conference game in Grinnell.

Joniqua Clark had eight steals for the Warriors (7-5) and Vanessa Eniola had six thefts.

Washington got off to a slow start and trailed 18-6 after the first quarter, but the Warriors got untracked and outscored Grinnell 39-27 in the second half for the victory.

Anne Visser led Washington with 17 points. Payton Bruner scored 12 points and Clark finished with 11 points. Eniola contributed nine points, seven rebounds and her six steals.

Sienna Durr poured in 20 points for Grinnell (9-3).

Williams powers Warriors by Grinnell

GRINNELL - Laveechie Williams collected a big double-double with 26 points and 13 rebounds Saturday as the Washington Warriors rallied to defeat Grinnell, 59-53, in Grinnell.

Williams shot 13 for 18 from the field and helped himself with eight offensive rebounds.

Washington trailed at halftime, 32-25, but the Warriors outscored their hosts 34-21 in the second half.

Hunter Strait finished with 14 points, five assists and four steals for Washington (4-4). Keion Wills contributed six points and five assists.

Cade McKnight led Grinnell (6-4) with 19 points and 17 rebounds. Samuel Allen also scored 19 points for Grinnell.

Saulnier paces Wash swimmers vs Valley

WEST DES MOINES - Nick Saulnier captured the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke for the Washington Warriors Saturday in a dual meet at West Des Moines Valley.

Valley won the meet, 102-68.

Washington also got victories from Cameron Kelley in the 200 free, Jeremy Throndson in the 500 free and Matt Jackson in the 100 breaststroke.

Washington girls fall in Waterloo

WATERLOO - Leah Frost rolled a 418 series and Josie Jacobs had a 407 as Waterloo East defeated Washington, 2,735-2,162, in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls bowling meet at Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo Friday.

Elka Wake led Washington with a 325 series.

WASHINGTON: Viola Niyizigama 128+150=278, Lucy Forster 132+136=268, Ella Wake 147+178=325, Kobie Dills 133+135=268, Kenzie Dills 131+132=263, Shania Christensen 154+142=296.

WATERLOO EAST: Alysha Edler 176+154=330, Alissa Claassen 192+192=384, Josie Jacobs 181+226=407, Leah Frost 193+225=418, Ashlee Snapp 147+146=293, Ashley Cary 177+192=369.

Washington: 1435 + 727 = 2,162.
