Bennett fires J-Hawks past Warriors

Rylea Bennett had the line for Jefferson Friday afternoon rolling games of 204 and 234 for a 438 series that carried the J-Hawks past Washington, 2459-2421, in girls bowling at May City.

Savannah Fowler shot a consistent 372 series, with games of 187 and 185, for the J-Hawks.

Keely Pernicka led Washington with a 373 series. She also had high game for the Warriors of 196.

Warriors swim past J-Hawks, 105-62

Jefferson got Washington's attention by claiming first and second in the first event of Thursday's dual meet at the J-Hawk pool.

And the Warriors came roaring back.

Jared Thorson and Nick Saulnier were quadruple winners, and Cameron Kelley was a triple winner in leading Washington to a 105-62 win.

Schuler shines in Warrior losses

Trey Schuler won by major decision and fall Thursday night, but Washington lost twice on the mat at Jefferson.

Schuler had a major decision in the Warriors' 63-7 loss to Jefferson. The Warriors forfeited seven matches.

Schuler and Mason Gee had falls in Washington's 70-12 loss to Cedar Falls. The Warriors forfeited eight matches.

Thorson, Saulnier lead Warrior tankers

Jared Thorson and Nick Saulnier won four events apiece to power Washington past Iowa City High, 119-41, Tuesday night in boys swimming at Washington.

Thorson won the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke and swam legs on the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay.

Saulnier won the 200 and 500 free, and swam on the 200 and 400 free relays.

Washington won all but one event.

Franklin nets 33 to spark Warriors

DUBUQUE - Dani Franklin collected 33 points and 10 rebounds Tuesday night as Cedar Rapids Washington defeated Dubuque Hempstead, 62-49, in a Mississippi Valley Conference game in Dubuque.

Franklin has produced two monster double-doubles in a row for the Warriors (3-1, 2-1). She had 37 points and 11 rebounds against Dubuque Senior Saturday and is averaging 23 points and 6.8 rebounds for the campaign.

Franklin made 11 of 23 shots from the field, including 4 of 9 from behind the 3-point line, and hit 7 of 8 free throws.
