Warrior boys bowlers overwhelm Prairie

Kyle Kaness fired high game of 259 and series of 428 to lead Washington's rout of Prairie, 3043-2521, Friday in boys bowling at Lancer Lanes.

All five Washington bowlers that counted in the score rolled at least one 200 game. Quincey Bruce had a 247, Joey Podgorski a 242 and Jacob Rogers a 206. Zach Christensen rolled games of 201 and 204.

Nick Blood led Prairie with a 210 high game and 385 series.

Palmer's 477 powers Prairie girls past Wash

Katlynn Palmer was red-hot for Prairie, rolling games of 244 and 233 for a 477 series that led the Hawks past Washington, 2695-2477, Friday afternoon at Lancer Lanes.

Amber Westemeier had a 215 game and Rylee Blood shot a 200 for Prairie.

Courtney Snodgrass led Washington with a 235 game and 404 series.

Warrior wrestlers drop a pair

IOWA CITY - Trey Schuler had a pair of pins, but Washington lost of wrestling meets Thursday at Iowa City West.

Washington (6-13, 3-10) was beaten by Dubuque Senior, 48-31, and Iowa City West, 60-13.

The Warriors won six matches, four by fall, against Senior. Besides Schuler at 120, JP Mercado (145), Noah Fox (195) and Zac Gillis (285) also had pins. Devin Dills (126) won by major decision.

Washington forfeited eight of the 14 matches against West. They split the six matches that were contested. Schuler had a pin, Jared Eicher (152) won by major decision and Gillis won a sudden victory match.

Washington boys grab 2nd win

DUBUQUE - Washington stormed back from a six-point halftime deficit and beat Dubuque Hempstead, 47-41, Tuesday night in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys basketball game.

Brock Butterfield scored 10 points to lead the Warriors (2-14, 2-9).

Jake Weber had 17 points for Hempstead (3-13, 3-8).

Hempstead held an 18-12 lead at halftime. Washington outscored the Mustangs 17-6 in the third quarter to take a 29-24 lead.

Warriors sending 8 into Hall of Fame

Cedar Rapids Washington will induct eight people into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame Friday night.

Rich Bleakley, Randy Luter, Bryan Stroh, Courtney Wilkerson and Rob Bruggeman will be entering the Hall of Fame as Washington athletes. John Campbell and Paul Witte are being honored as contributors, and Dan Reyner is entering the Hall of Fame as a coach.

The ceremony will be held in the Washington cafeteria, starting with a social hour at 4:30 p.m. and the program at 5 p.m. The new Hall of Fame members will be introduced between games of Washington's basketball doubleheader against Prairie.
