Xavier High School - Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Xavier will induct 4 into Hall of Fame

Three former athletes and an outstanding supporter will be inducted into the Xavier High School Hall of Fame this Friday.

Greg Hawthorne, Kristin (Jennings) Kahn, Ryan Sweeney and the Rev. Donald Bruggeman will be honored during halftime of Xavier's boys basketball game against Linn-Mar.

Hawthorne, a 1992 graduate of Regis High School, was a member of the golf, baseball, football and basketball teams. He served as team captain of the football team, was named first team all-state and helped Regis reach the state semifinals in 1989 and 1991.

Xavier boys fall at Cedar Falls

CEDAR FALLS - Isaac Boettger scored 16 points Friday night as the Cedar Falls Tigers trimmed Xavier, 45-38, in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys basketball game in Cedar Falls.

Trey Sampson and Adam McDermott scored 11 points apiece for the Saints (8-7, 4-6). Both of them made three 3-pointers.

Kalehl Brown and Kalund Brown netted 10 points apiece for the Tigers (13-2, 9-2).

Deutmeyer helps Saints top Cedar Falls

Hayley Deutmeyer led a balanced attack with 14 points Friday night as the Xavier Saints thumped Cedar Falls, 62-36, in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls basketball game at Xavier.

Ashley Stulken scored 12 points, Sarah Dickes netted 11 points and Maddie Bertsch had 10 points for the Saints (10-7, 7-3). Stulken and Bertsch collected six rebounds on Senior Night.

Imonee Qualls scored 11 points for Cedar Falls (5-12, 1-8).

Tiedtke, Kluth torch lanes for J-Hawk boys

Noah Tiedtke and Austin Kluth torched the lanes at May City Bowl, leading Jefferson to a 3176-2983 win over Xavier in boys bowling Friday.

Tiedtke shot games of 267 and 218 for a 485 series that was high for the match. His 267 also was high game. Kluth shot games of 214 and 258 for a 472 series.

Zach Ficken also rolled high for the J-Hawks with a 234 high game and 409 series.

James leads Jeff girls bowlers past Xavier

Lindsey James rolled games of 182 and 233 for a 415 series and Jefferson held off Xavier, 2767-2611, Friday afternoon in girls bowling at May City Bowl.

Tara Trcka shot games of 202 and 209 for a 411 series to lead Xavier.

Jefferson built a 147-pin lead in round one.
