Sullivan resigns as volleyball coach

Barb Sullivan has resigned as the volleyball coach at Xavier High School, but she might like to return to coaching at some point.

Sullivan and her husband, Dave, are expecting their first child in January and she wants to spend as much time as possible with her baby girl. Dave Sullivan is an assistant coach in football and girlsĀ  basketball at Xavier, so both of them have been leading busy lives with teaching and coaching.

Barb Sullivan plans to take eight weeks of maternity leave before returning to Xavier as a teacher in the theology department. Sometime in the future, she'll consider returning as a coach.

Xavier collected five pins Thursday night and drubbed Washington, 52-24, in their Mississippi Valley Conference meet at Xavier.

Nelson scored 17 points, Sampson netted 16 and Woods added 14 as the Saints pulled away in the fourth quarter. Reggie Schulte, an all-state quarterback at Xavier, also played Monday night and contributed two points.
