Tara Trcka rolled games of 267 and 247 for a 514 series that led the Xavier girls past Washington, 2523-2475, Friday in a Mississippi Valley Conference bowling match at Lancer Lanes.

Trcka's total was nearly 150 pins better than the next best score rolled by either team. Aileen Conway rolled a 173 high game and 328 series for Xavier (3-7, 3-5 MVC).

Elliott rolls 405; Saints fall to Wash

Ryan Bundy rolled a 231 high game and Zach Christensen a 449 series to lead Washington past Xavier, 2976-2660, Friday in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys bowling match at Lancer Lanes.

Christensen rolled games of 226 and 223 for Washington (6-7, 3-5 MVC). Nick Seng rolled a 224 game and Bundy had a 433 series.

Kyle Elliott rolled a 226 high game and 405 series for Xavier (0-10, 0-8).

McLaughlin guides Saints past Prairie

Mitch McLaughlin’s 3 pointer with six seconds left in the first half gave Xavier its first lead of the game and the Saints held it for the rest of the game, beating Prairie 60-54 Friday night in a Mississippi Valley Conference battle at Xavier.

McLaughlin kept the Saints (2-9, 2-5 MVC) in the game during the first half with 16 of his team’s 25 points. He finished with five 3-pointers and 23 points. Kevin Hosch added 12 points.

Saints put the clamps on Prairie girls

Xavier Coach Tom Lilly said before Friday night's girls basketball game that he wanted to score at least one more point than Prairie.

He didn't say how many points that might be, but it turned out it didn't have to be many.

No. 11 Xavier jumped off to a 19-1 lead and cruised past Prairie, 43-14, at the Saints gym.

Drahozal wins twice for Xavier wrestlers

WATERLOO -- Nick Drahozal posted two victories for Xavier Thursday night as the Saints split a Mississippi Valley Conference double-dual wrestling meet.

Drahozal collected a major decision as Xavier dropped a 39-32 verdict to Dubuque Wahlert and he pinned his man in 69 seconds as the Saints waltzed by Wateloo East 60-12.

Waterloo East forfeited eight of 14 weights to the Saints.
