Philipp heads Huskies in right direction

ANAMOSA - Joey Philipp scored two goals Monday as Cedar Valley Christian blanked Anamosa, 2-0, in a Wamac Conference soccer match in Anamosa.

The game was called with 12 minutes left in the second half due to lightning.

Phillip scored his first goal on a pass from Tom Scroggs. He collected his second tally with a header on a free kick by Mike Scroggs.

Colin Heeren made 10 saves for the shutout.

Cedar Valley girls win soccer title

GOOSE LAKE - The Cedar Valley Christian girls soccer team won the title at the Northeast Goose Lake tournament Saturday with a pair of tight victories.

The Huskies blanked Northeast Goose Lake, 1-0, on a goal by Elisabeth Fields on a corner kick by Emma Slagle.

Cedar Valley trimmed West Liberty, 2-1, on goals by Megan Slagle and Destiny Hawkins. Hawkins and Marie Cechota had assists.

Moriah Winkel was the goalkeeper for the Huskies in both games.

Huskies slip past Mediapolis, 1-0

Junior Soo Lee scored late in regulation to push Cedar Valley Christian to a 1-0 girls soccer victory Friday over Mediapolis at the Tuma Sports Complex.

Freshman Elisabeth Fields assisted on the goal for the Huskies, now 4-2.

Philipp collects hat trick for Huskies

Joey Philipp fired in three goals Thursday as the Cedar Valley Christian soccer team defeated Prince of Peace, 4-2, at the Tuma Complex.

Philipp scored his first goal with an assist from Ethan Sperfslage. Philipp collected his second goal with an assist from Tom Scroggs. His third goal was unassisted.

Logan Crittenden scored Cedar Valley's fourth goal on a penalty kick after Philipp was fouled in the penalty box.

Hayes, Philipp lead Cedar Valley boys

Brody Hayes scored two goals Tuesday as Cedar Valley Christian blanked Scattergood, 4-0, in a boys soccer match.

Joey Philipp collected a goal and two assists for the Huskies. Tom Scroggs contributed a goal and assist. Cole Telecky also had an assist.
