Cedar Valley boys kick Pointers

Logan Crittenden scored on a penalty kick in the 52nd minute Monday to snap a 1-1 tie and give Cedar Valley Christian a 2-1 victory over Center Point-Urbana in a Tri-Rivers Conference boys soccer match at the Tuma Soccer Complex.

Brody Hayes was tripped inside the penalty box and Crittenden made the visitors pay.

Joey Philipp scored the first goal for Cedar Valley Christian in the 33rd minute, pulling the Huskies into a 1-1 tie. Colin Heeren made 13 saves for Cedar Valley.

Cedar Valley raised its record to 2-5.

Cedar Valley girls boot Monticello

Freshman Marie Cechota fired in three goals Thursday as Cedar Valley Christian topped Monticello, 4-1, in a girls soccer match at the Tuma Complex.

Destiny Hawkins contributed a goal and an assist for the Huskies. Elisabeth Fields had two assists and Soo Lee had one assist.

Moriah Winkel made six saves in goal for Cedar Valley. The Huskies raised their record to 3-2 in their first year of varsity competition.

Monticello rallies to down Huskies

Brody Hayse scored a pair of first half goals to give Cedar Valley Christian a 2-0 lead, but the Huskies allowed three goals in a 22-minute span in the second half, dropping a 3-2 boys soccer decision to Monticello on Thursday night.

Joey Philipp and Colton Wessels both had assists for the Huskies.

Lee leads CVC girls past Mediapolis

MEDIAPOLIS - Junior Soo Lee scored two goals and had an assist to lead the Cedar Valley Christian girls soccer team to a 3-1 victory Monday night over Mediapolis.

Freshman Elisabeth Field also had a goal while freshman Marie Cechota added an assist. Junior goaltender Moriah Winkel had six saves.

Cedar Valley booted by Marquette

Bellevue Marquette defeated Cedar Valley Christian, 4-1, in a boys soccer match Thursday.

The Huskies scored their only goal in the 70th minute on a cross from Tom Scroggs to Colton Wessels. Colin Heeren made 11 saves for Cedar Valley.
