Cedar Valley loses Hembera for season

Cedar Valley Christian senior Shelby Hembera has torn tendons in her left ankle and will be lost for the rest of the basketball season, Coach Craig Foote reported Monday morning.

Hembera was injured Jan. 16 in a game against Easton Valley in Preston when she attempted a shot and landed on another player's foot. The injury originally was diagnosed as a sprained ankle, but an MRI revealed the torn tendons.

Hembera may need surgery to repair the injury, according to Foote.

Hembera, an all-state forward, leads the state in scoring at 30.3 points per game. She also led the state in scoring last year as a junior.
