FAIRBANK – Cedar Valley Christian struggled on the road, losing to Wapsie Valley 60-30 Saturday at Wapsie Valley.

Tyler Glenski, Mike Scroggs and Travis Geels each had six points for the Huskies (1-13).

Riley Woods had 22 points to lead the Warriors.

Maquoketa Valley tops CVC boys

DELHI - Zach Salow poured in 22 points Friday night as Maquoketa Valley trimmed Cedar Valley Christian, 48-38, in a boys basketball game in Delhi.

Mike Scroggs scored 13 points for Cedar Valley (1-12).

Brock Hillers and Kalvin Orcutt had 10 points apiece for Maquoketa Valley (3-13).

Both Hembera sisters sit as CVC falls

DELHI - Freshman Molly Hembera joined her sister Shelby on the sidelines Friday night with a migraine headache, stripping the Cedar Valley Christian girls basketball team of its two leading scorers.

Their absence led to a 55-13 loss to Maquoketa Valley on the road in Delhi.

Shelby Hembera, who leads the state in scoring at 30.3 points, has been sidelined the past week with a severely sprained ankle. Molly Hembera has helped carry the load in her sister's absence with a 10.3 scoring average, but she was unavailable as well Friday.

Cedar Valley boys snap 33-game slide

SPRINGVILLE - Travis Geels poured in 18 points Thursday night as Cedar Valley Christian drubbed HLV, 35-14, for its first victory of the season.

The Huskies had lost 33 straight games dating back to the last game of the 2012-13 campaign. They finished 0-21 last season and were 0-11 this season before ending the victory drought.

Michael Johnson contributed eight points for the Huskies.

HLV fell to 1-11 for the campaign.

HLV (14): Coats 1 0-0 3, Strudthoff 3 1-5 7, Doran 0 0-0 0, Lahndorf 2 0-2 4, Thys 0 0-1 0, Jones 0 0-0 0. Totals 6 1-8 14.

Cedar Valley girls lose to HLV

SPRINGVILLE - The HLV Warriors hit eight 3-pointers Thursday night and defeated Cedar Valley, 55-30, in a girls basketball game in Springville.

Kendra Schafbuch scored 14 points for the winners (2-12).

Shelby Hembera did not play again for Cedar Valley due to an ankle injury. Emily Masterson and Maggie Cach scored eight points apiece for the Huskies (7-6).
