3 Eagles named JUCO All-Americans

Kirkwood softball players Amber Logemann, Kayla Tatge and Haylee Krack have been named first team Division II All-Americans in softball by the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Logemann compiled a 27-4 record and 0.58 ERA as Kirkwood's top pitcher. She struck out 356 batters in 180.1 innings. Logemann led the nation in ERA and strikeouts.

Tatge hit 25 home runs, drove in 72 runs and hit .385. She led the nation in home runs.

Krack hit 19 home runs, drove in 71 runs and also hit .385.

Kirkwood finished 57-5 and tied for fifth at the national tournament.

Eagles up to 9th after Day 2 of national golf

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. - Kirkwood advanced four spots to ninth place Wednesday in the second round of the NJCAA Division II men's golf tournament.

The Eagles shot an even-par 288 as a team on the Goose Pond Colony course. They trail leader South Mountain, Ariz., by 27 strokes.

Kirkwood's Sean Cleary shot a 2-under par 70 and moved up 27 spots to a tie for 20th in medal play.

All of Kirkwood's golfers improved their placing from the first day, when the Eagles were 16-over par as a team.

Eagles in 13th after Day 1 of national golf

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. - Kirkwood is in 13th place after Tuesday's first round of the NJCAA Division II men;s golf tournament at Goose Pond Colony.

The Eagles shot 304 as a team and are 20 shots behind first-round leader South Mountain, Ariz. Black Hawk, Ill., is in second place, one shot back.

Kirkwood's Jordan Azbell and Sean Cleary shot 3-over par 75's and are tied for 46th.

Kirkwood streak, season end at nationals

A two-out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning ended Kirkwood's softball season Friday.

Stephanie Cruse's hit lifted Cowley County, Kan., past the Eagles, 3-2, in an elimination round game of the NJCAA Division II national softball tournament.

The Eagles had their 50-game winning streak snapped earlier in the day by Phoenix College, 2-1. That loss, the team's first since March 18, put Kirkwood in the losers bracket.

Smith's homer lifts KCC at nationals

CLINTON, Miss. - The Kirkwood Community College Eagles earned a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Illinois Central Cougars in the NJCAA Division II national softball tournament Thursday on the strength of a two-run home run by Lauren Smith.

With the win, the third-ranked Eagles (57-3) remained undefeated and moved into the third round of the winners’ bracket and are now one of only four teams that remain undefeated in the double-elimination tournament.

Kirkwood, riding a 50-game winning streak, will face No.2 Phoenix College Friday at noon in the winners bracket semifinals.
