Coe wrestlers blank Buena Vista

Cody Fritz had a pin at 157 pounds and three other Coe wrestlers won by technical fall as the No. 11 Kohawks blanked Buena Vista, 44-0, in an Iowa Conference dual meet Wednesday night at Eby Fieldhouse.

Jan Rosenberg (125), Mike Gussarson (133) and Farai Sewera (165) all won by technical fall for Coe (2-0).

Hansche honored by Iowa Conference

Coe junior Mickey Hansche has been named the Female Athlete of the Week by the Iowa Conference.

Hansche averaged 21.7 points in three games last week with 27 against Mount Mercy, 22 against Wisconsin-La Crosse and 16 against MacMurray.

Hansche set a school record for 3-point percentage in a single game when she went 7-for-9 against Mount Mercy for 77.8 percent. She hit her first seven triples in that game before missing.

Aleena Hobbs from the Coe basketball team was named the Female Athlete of the Week last week, giving the Kohawks both honors since the season began.

 

Coe's Harbaugh honored by AVCA

Coe senior Makenzie Harbaugh has been named an Honorable Mention All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Harbaugh finished her career with 1,285 assists, which ranks fifth in school history. She was named a third team All-American by the AVCA last season.

The Kohawks finished with a 23-13 record and tied for third in the Iowa Conference.

   

Kohawks knocked off by Platteville

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The Coe men's basketball struggled with its shooting Sunday and lost to Wisconsin-Platteville, 72-57, in Platteville.

The Kohawks hit only 21 of 61 overall and were 5 of 24 on their 3-pointers.

Marshall Shedeck led Coe (2-2) with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Matt Vonderhaar scored 13 points for the Kohawks.

Cory Vaassen led Platteville (4-2) with 19 points.

Coe women bomb away in easy win

LA CROSSE, Wis. - Coe launched a school-record 41 3-point field goal attempts, making 13, en route to an easy 86-58 women's basketball win over MacMurray on Sunday in the final day of the Holiday Inn Express Thanksgiving Classic.

Jenna Lehman and former Cedar Rapids Washington prep Aleena Hobbs led the Kohawks with a game-high 17 points apiece. Lehman also added nine rebounds, seven assists and two steals. She tied her career high in assists. Hobbs added six rebounds

Mickey Hansche had 16 points and seven rebounds, while former Prairie standout Courteney McCrary had nine points off the bench. Allie Wirth had a game-high 11 rebounds, while also collecting three assists and three steals for Coe (3-1).

Brianna Markusic led MacMurray (0-4) with 16 points.
