Lahr, Harbaugh honored by IIAC

Sam Lahr and Mackenzie Harbaugh of Coe College have been honored by the Iowa Conference.

Lahr was named the Offensive Player of the Week in football for Saturday's performance in a 44-22 victory over Luther. He carried the ball 25 times for 239 yards and four touchdowns and caught two passes for 56 yards.

Harbaugh was honored as the Offensive Player of the Week in volleyball. She collected double-doubles in all three matches last week as the Kohawks went 3-0. She averaged 29 assists per match with 28 kills and 27 digs.

 

Lahr enjoys big day for Coe football

Sam Lahr rushed for 239 yards and scored four touchdowns Saturday as Coe bounced Luther, 44-22, in an Iowa Conference game before 2,789 fans at Clark Field.

Lahr broke loose for a 52-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to give the Kohawks a 37-14 lead. He also scored from 1, 8 and 5 yards in the game.

Lahr also caught two passes for 56 yards, giving him 295 all-purpose yards.

Josh Rekers hit 9 of 17 passes for 136 yards for Coe. Gavin Glenn was 4 for 9 for 97 yards.

Coe collected 582 yards of total offense in the victory. Demetrius Harper caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from Rekers and Brandon Roseberry scored on a 24-yard run.

Conroy shines for Coe runners

DUBUQUE - Freshman Lucy Conroy earned all-conference honors Saturday by finishing fourth at the Iowa Conference cross country meet at the Dubuque Soccer Complex.

It was the highest finish by a Coe freshman at the conference meet in school history and the highest finish for a Kohawk at the league meet in 12 years.

Conroy covered the 6K course in 23 minutes, 43 seconds.

The Coe women placed sixth in the team standings. The Coe men finished seventh in their race.

Loras captured the men's and women's titles.

Coe men booted in league tourney

DECORAH - The Coe men's soccer team lost to Luther, 4-0, in the quarterfinals of the Iowa Conference tournament Saturday in Decorah.

The Kohawks finished the season with a 6-13-1 record.

Luther led, 1-0, at halftime and pulled away in the second half with three more goals. Kyle McNeese, Josh Parris, Nigel Nielsen and Josh Galvin connected for the winners.

 

Coe swimmers dunk Loras in opener

The Coe College men's and women's swimming teams opened the season with victories over Loras on Friday night at the Coe pool.

Corbin Faidley and Collin Flynn were double-winners as the Coe men's team topped Loras, 121-83. Faidley claimed the 200 free (1:50.89) and 500 free (4:55.92). Flynn captured the 200 IM (2:03.29) and the 100 back (54.87).

Andy Cheng won the 1000 free (11:02.44) and Timmy Bosn took the 100 free (51.97). The Kohawks also won the 200 medley relay (1:41.83).

Ayaka Okamoto, Alanna Thompson, Katie King and Sam Fitzgerald were double-winners for the Coe women's team in a 127-100 triumph over Loras.
