Mount Mercy women in 2nd place

OSKALOOSA - The Mount Mercy women's golf team is in second place at the Statesmen Classic heading into the final round Tuesday.

The Mustangs posted a score of 329 in the five-team tournament at the Edmundson Golf Course Monday. They are 37 shots behind William Penn after 18 holes of the 36-hole event.

Allyson Wertz led Mount Mercy Monday with a 78.

1. William Penn 292, 2. Mount Mercy 329, 3. Saint Ambrose 351, 4. William Penn 'B' 352, 5. Culver-Stockton 366.

Mustangs 3rd at Mid-South golf

NEWTON, Kan. - The Mount Mercy University men's golf team is sitting in third place heading into the final day of the The Mid-South tournament at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course.

Oklahoma City leads the nine-team tournament with a 36-hole score of 576. Kansas Wesleyan is in second place at 593, followed by the Mustangs in third place at 20-over-par 596.

William Bruyeres of Mount Mercy is tied for sixth at 2-over 146 following rounds of 75 and 71 Monday.

Mustangs blanked by Graceland

LAMONI - The Mount Mercy men's soccer team could not find the back of the net Saturday and lost to Graceland, 1-0, in a Heart of America Conference match in Lamoni.

Graceland goalkeeper Liam Smith made five saves in the 90-minute contest to keep the Mustangs off the board.

Nicolas Monroy scored for Graceland in the 62nd minute to snap a scoreless battle and collect the only goal in the game.

Mount Mercy suffered its first loss of the season and fell to 4-1-3 overall. The Mustangs are 0-1-1 in the conference. Graceland raised its records to 3-2-1 overall and 1-1 in the league.

Mustang women booted by Graceland

LAMONI - The Mount Mercy women's soccer team relinquished a 3-1 lead Saturday and lost to Graceland, 4-3, in overtime in a Heart of America Conference match on the road.

Isabel Alvarez, Maisey McCoy and Carly Walker scored in the first half to give the Mustangs a 3-1 lead at intermission, but Graceland scored twice in the second half to tie the match and struck again in overtime for the victory.

Olivia Ramsey was credited with an assist on the goal by Walker.

Mount Mercy fell to 3-2-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Graceland raised its records to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the league.

 

Mount Mercy falls at Evangel

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Mount Mercy women's volleyball team lost to Evangel, 25-18, 25-19, 18-25, 25-17, in a Heart of America Conference match Saturday at the Ashcroft Center.

Alyssa Weldon led the Mustangs with 15 kills. Maddie Bell and Torie Alexander had eight kills. Becca Thomson finished with seven.

Caiti Peterson accumulated 40 assists in the four sets. Lauren Stopko had 21 digs.

Mount Mercy fell to 13-6 overall and 3-4 in the conference. Evangel raised its records to 12-10 overall and 4-3 in the league.
