Mount Mercy clips AIB in 4 sets

DES MOINES - Cori Peterzalek had 18 kills and 12 digs to lead Mount Mercy to a 23-25, 25-23, 25-18, 26-24 Midwest Collegiate Conference volleyball win Wednesday night over AIB.

Demi Heiss and Leslie Hoffmann added nine kills apiece for the Mustangs, 13-18 overall, 2-3 in the MCC.

Emily Hendrickson had 38 assists for Mount Mercy. Samantha Meyer led the defense with 14 digs.

Paige Daniels led AIB (7-22, 1-3) with 12 kills.

Farquaharson nets 7 goals for Mustangs

OMAHA, Neb. - Kevon Farquaharson poured in seven goals Monday as Mount Mercy overwhelmed Grace, 17-0, in a men's soccer match at Tranquility Park in Omaha.

Farquaharson has scored 18 goals in 17 games for the Mustangs (11-6).

Hieu Ngo collected three goals for Mount Mercy in the game. Jamie Booth scored twice. Yinka Ajibola, Mohamed Hamed, Jordan Torquato, Wyatt Cady and Haris Hadzalic also tallied for the Mustangs.

Hamed had four assists and Ajibola had three assists.

Grace fell to 1-15.

 

Mount Mercy women boot Grace

OMAHA, Neb. - Annie Feltes, Taylor Eaker and Liz Thompson scored goals Friday as Mount Mercy defeated Grace, 3-1, in a women's soccer match at Tranquility Park in Omaha.

Lauren Plante and Lizzy Fowler collected assists for the Mustangs.

Mount Mercy raised its record to 8-6-1. Grace fell to 1-15.

   

Mount Mercy soccer swept by AIB

DES MOINES - The Mount Mercy soccer teams lost a pair of matches to AIB in Des Moines Saturday.

The Mount Mercy men's team lost, 2-1. The Mustangs fell behind 2-0 and finally scored in the 82nd minute on a goal by Fergus O'Connor, but the Mustangs (10-6, 2-3) could not get the equalizer. Ngo Hieu collected an assist on O'Connor's goal.

The Mount Mercy women's team fell to AIB, 6-1. Aminah Baloch had an unassisted goal for the Mustangs (7-6-1,
0-4-1).

Fichtner leads Mount Mercy past Hawks

Marco Fichtner scored two goals and added two assists as Mount Mercy rolled to a 5-0 Midwest Collegiate Conference win over Viterbo Wednesday afternoon at Kingston Stadium.

He assisted on first-half goals by Marko Govedarica and Jamie Booth, then scored twice in a six-minute span that saw the Mustangs hit the net three times. Kevon Farquharson scored in between Fichtner's two tallies.

The Mustangs move to 10-5 overall, 2-2 in the MCC. Viterbo falls to 1-13, 0-4.
