Saints, Lions stay No.2 in poll

The Xavier Saints and Linn-Mar Lions held their lofty spots in the girls soccer rankings Friday by the IGHSAU.

The Saints are ranked No.2 in Class 2A and the Lions are ranked No.2 in Class 3A.

The Prairie Hawks stayed No.10 in the Class 3A rankings for the second straight week.

The top-ranked teams are Davenport Assumption in Class 1A, North Scott in Class 2A and Bettendorf in Class 3A.

No. 2 Linn-Mar girls roll by Wahawks

Olivia Garcia scored two goals Tuesday night as No. 2 Linn-Mar defeated at Linn-Mar Stadium.

The game was stopped after eight minutes of the second half.

Michal Christopher, Lexi Frese, Malory Garman, Kayla Kvach, Brooke Roberts, Maddie Saville, Madison Scheldrup and Jensen Sevening scored

goals for the Lions.

Prairie girls pop into soccer rankings

New coach Doug Graham has steered Cedar Rapids Prairie into the girls soccer rankings.

The Hawks are ranked 10th this week in Class 3A, the IGHSAU announced Friday. Kennedy, which was ranked No.7, dropped out of the rankings this week and other teams moved up, making room for Prairie in the top 10.

The Linn-Mar Lions are ranked No. 2 again in Class 3A, trailing Bettendorf in the big-school ratings.

The Xavier Saints are ranked No. 2 again in Class 2A, trailing North Scott.

CLASS 3A

Linn-Mar - Girls Soccer

No. 2 Lions trim Saints in soccer

Claire Larson scored the game's only goal in the second half Thursday night as Linn-Mar edged Xavier, 1-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer match at Linn-Mar Stadium.

Linn-Mar is ranked No.2 in Class 3A, while Xavier is ranked No. 2 in Class 2A.

 

Linn-Mar - Girls Soccer

No.2 Lions blank No.3 IC West

The second-ranked Linn-Mar Lions topped No.3 Iowa City West, 2-0, in a battle of premier girls soccer teams at Linn-Mar Stadium Tuesday night.

Kayla Kvach scored off a free-kick assist from Jensen Sevening to give Linn-Mar a 1-0 lead in the first half.

Olivia Garcia scored on a breakaway goal from a serve by Claire Larson to make it 2-0 in the second half.
