Mustangs edged by St. Ambrose, 75-74
DAVENPORT - Jake Meeske made a free throw with three seconds remaining Wednesday night to snap a tie and give St. Ambrose a 75-74 victory over Mount Mercy in a non-conference basketball game on the Leo Kilfoy Court inside of Lee Lohman Arena in Davenport.
Mychael Brawner-Henley, who struggled all night with his 3-point shooting for Mount Mercy, canned a 3-pointer with 10 seconds remaining to tie the ballgame at 74-74.
The Mustangs fouled Meeske, who made his first foul shot to give the Bees their final margin.
Mount Mercy (2-1) launched 52 3-pointers in the 40-minute contest and made 17 for 32.7 percent. All told, the Mustangs shot 27 for 70 from the field for 38.6 percent.
Brawner-Henley, who shot 7-for-8 on 3-pointers in the first half against Viterbo last week, was only 2-for-13 from long range against St. Ambrose.
