WATERLOO - Adam McDermott scored 17 points and Calvin Winker added 14 to lead Xavier to a 62-53 win over Waterloo East Tuesday in Mississippi Valley Conference boys basketball.
Xavier (10-10, 6-9) spurted out to a 21-10 lead after one quarter and led 37-27 at halftime.
The Saints stretched their lead to 19 points late in the third quarter.
But Xavier scored only two points over the first six minutes of the fourth quarter and East battled back to within 55-51. A 7-2 spurt by the Saints closed out the win.
East (9-11, 4-11) was led by Desmond VanArsdale's 16 points.
