MASON CITY - Todd Rima built a solid baseball program at NIACC before moving to Kirkwood as the head coach this season.
Too good, perhaps.
NIACC swept a conference doubleheader from the Eagles, 1-0 and 6-1, in Mason City Sunday.
Kirkwood (17-5, 5-3) collected only seven singles in the twinbill with no extra-base hits.
Cale Henke pitched a three-hitter for the Eagles in the first game, but was the hard-luck loser. NIACC (14-4, 6-2) scored its only run when a batter hit into a double play with runners at first and third with nobody out in the second inning.
NIACC won the four-game series, 3-1. The teams split on Saturday.
