MOUNT VERNON - Kennedy won a pair of games Friday at the Mount Vernon softball tournament.

The Cougars downed Washington, Iowa, 6-4, and North Cedar, 8-2.

Kennedy (11-20) appeared on its way to a three-game sweep until Mount Vernon scored four runs in the top of the seventh to hand the Cougars a 7-6 loss.

Tianna Drahn had seven hits over the three games for Kennedy. Heather McKinnon drove in eight runs, knocking home four against Washington and four more against Mount Vernon.

McKinnon belted a home run against Mount Vernon and Lauren Kubovec swatted a homer against North Cedar.

Madeline Crist was the winning pitcher against Washington and Andrea McEachran was the winner against North Cedar.
