WATERLOO - Xavier pounded out 33 hits and scored 33 runs and swept a doubleheader from Waterloo East, 20-3 and 13-4, Wednesday night in Mississippi Valley Conference baseball.
The Saints (21-11, 14-8) pulled into a third-place tie with Cedar Falls in the Valley Division, one game behind co-leaders Prairie and Linn-Mar.
Mitch Keller had two hits, including a grand slam, and drove in six runs in the opener. Corbin Woods also belted a home run and had two RBIs. Jordan Ratz had four hits, Zach Brown three.
The Saints scored in every inning, including an eight-run outburst in the seventh. Eric Schemmel allowed only four hits and was the winning pitcher.
Adam Pick toted the big bat for the Saints in the nightcap. He homered and doubled and drove in four runs. Brown had two hits and three RBIs. Ratz had a pair of hits.
Reggie Schulte pitched the first five innings and picked up the win.
