Tickets now on sale for MSR Classic

Tickets are now on sale for the Metro Sports Report Classic basketball event that will be held at Kirkwood Community College on Saturday, Nov. 30.

Tickets may be ordered directly by contacting Metro Sports Report president Jim Ecker at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

This unique event will feature all of the boys basketball teams from all eight Metro schools in a series of Hall of Pride Challenge scrimmages.

There will be two doubleheaders at Johnson Hall on the Kirkwood Community College campus in southwest Cedar Rapids.

The first session will match Jefferson against Prairie at 11 a.m., followed by Linn-Mar against Marion at 1:15 p.m.

The second session will feature Kennedy against Xavier at 5 p.m., following by Washington against Cedar Valley Christian at 7:15 p.m.

All four exhibition games will be regulation 32-minute contests with certified officials, as approved by the Iowa High School Athletic Association. The results will not count on a team's won-loss record nor count against its allotment of 21 regular-season games.

The Metro Sports Report Classic also will feature extracurricular groups and individuals from each of the eight schools, such as cheerleaders, poms, dancers and musicians. There will be fan contests and other activities at the event.

Tickets cost $1 for students, $3 for senior citizens (55 & over) and $5 for the general public per session. All pre-kindergarten children will be admitted for free. Seating is limited at Johnson Hall, which can hold approximately 1,500 fans.

There will be an hour gap (approximately) between the end of the first session and when the doors re-open for the second session. Fans who attend the first session will need to purchase an additional ticket for the second session. The doors will open at 10 a.m. for the first session and at 4 p.m. for the second session.

Tickets will be sold at each of the eight schools later this month and also will be sold at Johnson Hall on the day of the event.

Fans will be asked to include $1 for postage and handling if ordering in advance from the Metro Sports Report. For instance, fans who want to buy four $5 tickets will be asked to pay a total of $21. Please indicate which session you wish to attend.

All tickets will be for general admission.
