Molitor, Duensing, Pressly join Twins Caravan

The Minnesota Twins announced Tuesday that pitchers Brian Duensing and Ryan Pressly and coach Paul Molitor will join Twins play-by-play broadcaster Dick Bremer when the Twins Winter Caravan visits Cedar Rapids as part of the 18th Annual Hot Stove Banquet on Monday, Jan. 13.

Kernels Manager Jake Mauer, who guided the 2013 team to an 88-50 record, also will be attending the banquet at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in downtown Cedar Rapids.

Duensing was selected by the Twins in the third round of the 2005 draft from the University of Nebraska. He appeared in 73 games for the Twins this past season, posting a 6-2 record, 3.98 ERA and one save. In five major league seasons, he has a career record of 34-33 with a 4.20 ERA.

Pressly was acquired by the Twins from Boston in the 2012 Rule V Draft and made his MLB debut on April 4, 2013 against Detroit. He appeared in 49 games for the Twins, posting a 3-3 record and 3.87 ERA in 76.2 innings. He was selected by Boston in the 11th round of the 2007 draft from Marcus (Texas) High School.

Hall of Famer Molitor joins the Twins coaching staff for 2014. He will oversee baserunning, bunting, infield instruction and positioning, plus assist with in-game strategy. He was the Twins' minor league baserunning and infield coordinator from 2005-13.

Molitor was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004 and had a career batting average of .306 with 3,319 career hits and 504 steals over 21 seasons. The Minnesota native played 15 seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers and three seasons each with the Blue Jays and Twins.

The Hot Stove Banquet will include a live and silent auction featuring sports memorabilia and local items and the induction of the Class of 2014 into the Cedar Rapids Baseball Hall of Fame. This year's Hall of Fame Class includes Mike Trout, Chris Sabo, Verna Nance, Ron Gonder and Tom Barbee.

Proceeds from this event help the Kernels Foundation accomplish its vision of ensuring that all youth in Eastern Iowa have the opportunity to experience the thrills and life-enhancing lessons that come from engaging in athletics and recreational activities.

Tickets for the banquet are on sale now and are $40 in advance and $45 at the door with corporate tables seating 10 people available for $350. Children 12-under are $23. Tickets can be purchased at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium during regular business hours 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., by phone at (319) 363-3887 or on-line at www.kernels.com.
