Cedar Falls handed Linn-Mar just its third girls' basketball loss of the season in Mississippi Valley Conference action Friday night at Linn-Mar, 59-43.
The Tigers (5-4 overall, 2-4 MVC) built a 10-point first-quarter lead and kept the defensive pressure on the Lions all night.
"The girls had a great start," Coach Dan List said. "We jumped out to a quick lead, were able to contain Linn-Mar's offense and controlled the rebounds throughout the game."
Tiger senior Madison Wood led the team with 26 points while teammate Adrienne Boettger added 14 more. However, a season-ending injury to junior Addison Long took some of the luster off the Tigers' victory.
Katie Sommer scored 12 points for Linn-Mar (8-3, 5-3). Kristie Sommer had 10 points.
