APPLETON, Wis. - The Cedar Rapids Kernels spent a long, unhappy night at Fox Cities Stadium Tuesday in Appleton, Wis.

The Kernels lost to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, 1-0, in 12 innings in a soggy Midwest League game before 2,849 fans.

The game took 3 hours, 24 minutes to play and there was a rain delay that lasted 1 hour, 19 minutes, putting the total time at 4 hours, 43 minutes.

The Kernels (34-47) got only four hits in the ballgame. Wisconsin (43-38) had only six hits, but managed to score the game's only run with one out in the bottom of the 12th.

Aaron Slegers pitched five scoreless innings for Cedar Rapids. Brandon Bixler and Dallas Gallant tossed two scoreless frames. Jared Wilson also pitched two scoreless innings in the 10th and 11th, but surrendered a run in the 12th and took the loss.
