The Mount Mercy and William Penn volleyball teams battled all night Tuesday before the Mustangs prevailed 25-21, 22-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-13 in a Midwest Collegiate Conference match at the Hennessey Recreation Center.
Mount Mercy (8-10, 1-0) received important contributions from at least 10 players in the MCC opener for both teams. Demi Heiss led the balanced attack with 14 kills and 17 digs. Abbie Perez collected 26 assists and 18 digs.
Megan Paustian (11 kills), Leslie Hoffman (10 kills), Emma Pisarik (9 kills), Cori Peterzalek (7 kills), Hannah Whitley (5 kills), Emily Hendrickson (17 assists), Ashley Strong (18 digs) and Samantha Meyer (13 digs) also played major roles for the Mustangs.
William Penn fell to 2-16 overall and 0-1 in the league.
