Metro Players in Pro Baseball

There are four Metro players in pro baseball as the 2015 season begins.

Ryan Sweeney has been released by the Chicago Cubs and is looking for a new team, so there are no Metro grads in the Major Leagues at this time.

Scott Schebler (Prairie) is playing for the Oklahoma City Dodgers in the Triple-A Pacific Coast League. Chad Christensen (Washington) is playing for the Fort Myers Miracle in the High-A Florida State League. Jon Keller (Xavier) is pitching for the Frederick Keys in the High-A Carolina League.

Mitch Keller (Xavier) is expected to play for the Bristol Pirates in the Rookie Appalachian League when that season begins in June.

Andrew Hanse (Linn-Mar) has been released by the Tampa Bay organization and Dakota Freese (Washington) has been released by the Oakland A's. Kellen Sweeney (Jefferson) was released by the Toronto organization last year.

SCOTT SCHEBLER (Prairie), Oklahoma City, OF, Triple-A, Pacific Coast League (Dodgers): Schebler went 0-for-4 Thursday night as Oklahoma City opened the season with a 2-0 loss to Round Rock. He batted fifth in the lineup and played left field.

CHAD CHRISTENSEN (Washington), Fort Myers, OF, High-A, Florida State League (Twins): Christensen went 1-for-3 Thursday as Fort Myers opened the season with a 2-0 loss to Charlotte. He batted fifth in the lineup and played right field.

JON KELLER (Xavier), Frederick, P, High-A, Carolina League (Orioles): Frederick began the season with a 13-0 loss to Winston-Salem Thursday. Keller did not pitch.
