Woods belts homer, Belmont ousts Okie State

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nate Woods hit a solo home run in the first inning Saturday to help Belmont eliminate Oklahoma State, 3-2, in the NCAA regional baseball tournament.

The victory was the first in school history for Belmont in any NCAA Division I tournament, regardless of the sport.

Belmont (37-25) will play Vanderbilt or Troy on Sunday in the double-elimination tournament. The Bruins lost to No.6 Vanderbilt, 10-0, in the first round on Friday.

Woods is from Cedar Rapids and graduated from Xavier High School in 2007. He is hitting .341 with 13 homers and 62 RBIs.
