WATERLOO - The Cedar Rapids Prairie softball team split a MississippiĀ Valley Conference doubleheader against Waterloo West Tuesday in Waterloo.
Waterloo West won the first game, 11-5. Prairie rebounded and claimed the nightcap, 13-6.
Gabi Carter had two hits for Prairie in the opener. Carsyn Waller had two RBIs. Natalie Halvorson suffered the loss.
Shelby Frederick pitched a complete game for the Hawks in the 13-6 victory. She also went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs.
Amanda Pipolo was 3-for-5 for Prairie in the second game. Neila Bell was 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Waller was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.
The split left Prairie at 18-8 overall and 11-5 in the conference. Waterloo West is 12-8 overall and 9-7 in the league. Prairie owns a two-game lead over Waterloo West and Xavier in the Mississippi Division standings.
