Dralle wins Metro Spotlight Award

Tyler Dralle of Kennedy is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Dralle, a senior, carried the ball 40 times for 265 yards and four touchdowns Thursday night when the Cougars opened the 2015 football season with an exciting 34-31 victory over Iowa City West.

Dralle averaged 6.6 yards per carry and scored touchdowns on runs of 10, 7, 1 and 2 yards behind Kennedy's talented offensive line.

Dralle tied for the 10th-best performance in Metro history with his 265 yards. Andre Dawson of Washington ran for 265 yards in 2009 and Colton Storla of Marion ran for 265 in 2011.

The Metro Sports Report listed Dralle with 264 yards in its unofficial stats Thursday night, but Kennedy's official stats put him at 265.

Dralle rushed for 915 yards and eight touchdowns last season as a junior.

Dralle is also an accomplished baseball player at Kennedy. He hit .297 with three home runs and 37 RBIs this season and helped the Cougars reach the semifinals of the Class 4A state tournament with a 30-12 record. He is an outfielder and relief pitcher.
