Marion boys fall short at Benton

VAN HORNE – The Marion boys basketball team faded in the second half and lost to Benton Community, 50-33, Tuesday at Benton.

The Indians trailed 23-21 at halftime, but they scored just 12 points in the second half. Marion shot only one free throw in the game.

Baylor Fish, Chase Zielke and Chris Mohwinkle each scored six points for Marion (2-4).

Tucker Schroeder had 13 points to lead the Bobcats (2-4).

MARION (33): Fish 2 0-0 6, Zielke 3 0-0 6, Walter 1 0-0 2, Mandersheid 2 1-1 5, Whalen 2 0-0 4, Pflughaupt 1 0-0 2, Chris Mohwinkle 3 0-0 6, Clayton Mohwinkle 0 0-0 0, Mitch Wiese 1 0-0 2. Totals 15 1-1 33.

BENTON COMMUNITY (50): Touro 2 2-2 8, Steinford 0 0-0 0, Hartl 0 0-0 0, Schroeder 6 1-3 13, Eggert 3 1-2 8, Semelroth 1 5-8 7, Cooper 3 2-3 8, Michael 0 0-0 0, Michels 3 0-0 6. Totals 18 11-18 50.
