DAVENPORT - The Mount Mercy women's volleyball team won a slugfest  against Saint Ambrose Tuesday night to begin the season with five  straight victories.

The Mustangs prevailed 19-25, 25-16, 17-25, 28-26, 15-7 in a  topsy-turvy match in Davenport.

Alyssa Weldon led Mount Mercy (5-0) with 22 kills and 16 digs. Kayla  Daggett collected 41 assists and Maddie Bell had 14 kills.

Haley Stecklein contributed 14 digs, Madelyn Orton 13 and Gabi Delsing  12. Abbi Tunis blocked five shots and Olivia Makinen had four blocks.
