WALKER - Emil's Hideaway won an incredibly tight race for the Iowa Women's Softball League title Sunday in Walker.

Emil's Hideaway blanked Ironside Apparel, 1-0, in the first game of their doubleheader to clinch top honors for the 2020 campaign. Ironside took the nightcap, 8-2.

Emil's finished with an 8-5-1 record to nip Bosch Financial for the crown by a half-game in the standings. Bosch Financial, the 2019 champs, finished with a 7-5-2 record. Ironside finished with a 7-7 mark.

All three teams had a shot at the title when the day began.

Abby Carlin of Western Illinois tossed a one-hitter with five strikeouts as Emil's trimmed Ironside, 1-0, in the first game of their twinbill to secure the title.

Brie Tauber of Clarke scored the only run in the top of the first inning after leading off the game with a single. She scored on a fielder's choice by Avery Guy of Iowa.

Sarah Lehman of Iowa pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts for Ironside in an outstanding matchup against Carlin.

Ironside Apparel won the second game, 8-2. Skylar Stookey of Coe hit a three-run homer for Ironside. Erica Oler of UNI pitched a complete game for the winners.

BOSCH FINANCIAL vs METRO SPORTS REPORT

Bosch Financial and the Metro Sports Report battled to a 1-1 tie in the first game of their doubleheader in an impressive battle between Ellie Thurow of Coe and Isabelle True of Kirkwood.

Thurow pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts for Bosch Financial. The only run against her was unearned.

True countered with a four-hitter for the Metro Sports Report with five strikeouts.  Bosch Financial scored on an RBI single by Olivia Allen of Simpson.

Bosch trimmed the Metro Sports Report, 4-3, in their second game. Andy Conway of St. Olaf led off the top of the fifth inning with a triple and scored on a single by Allen to snap a 3-3 tie.

Ceara Larson of Lawrence belted a triple for Bosch Financial and scored a run. Olivia Richards of Kirkwood had a two-run single for the Metro Sports Report.
