Teply, Sievertsen honored by MVC

CEDAR FALLS - University of Northern Iowa football players Jay Teply and Tyler Sievertsen of Cedar Rapids were named first team all-conference in the Missouri Valley Conference on Monday.

Teply, a senior, is a 6-foot-7, 328-pound offensive tackle from Xavier High School. Sievertsen, a sophomore, graduated from Kennedy High School and is UNI's place-kicker.

Sievertsen has been the most accurate kicker in Division I football this season (FCS and FBS combined). He has made 17 of 18 field goals for 94.4 percent. No other kicker in the nation with more than 11 field goals has a higher percentage.

Sievertsen is also 34 for 34 on PATs, making him 51 for 52 on his kicks this season.

Northern Iowa (9-2) hosts Wofford (8-3) in the second round of the FCS playoffs on Saturday.
