Foreman, Hammond, Hogg honored at Washington

Brooke Foreman, Katie Hammond and Robert Hogg have won the Orville Rust Award as the Athletes of the Year at Cedar Rapids Washington.

Foreman won the 400 meter hurdles at the Class 4A state track meet in 2011 and is among the favorites in the event this week in Des Moines. She is also a two-time runnerup at the Drake Relays and a two-time Elite All-State selection in track.

Foreman will finish her varsity career with six letters in track (4) and basketball (2). She'll run next year as a member of the women's track team at Drake University.

Hammond will finish her career with eight varsity letters in tennis (4) and soccer (4), the most letters by any female member of her class. Hammond finished third at the state tennis tournament as a junior and placed seventh as a sophomore. She plans on attending Marquette University.

Hogg will finish his career at Washington with 11 varsity letters in track (4), cross country (4) and baseball (3), the most letters in his class. He helped the Warriors win Class 4A state track titles in 2009 and 2010 and ran on the state championship 4x800 relay in 2010.

Hogg helped the Warriors win the medley relay at the Drake Relays this year and he's one of the favorites in the 800 meter run at the state meet this week. Hogg is an outstanding student and will attend Harvard University, where he will join the track and cross country teams.
