WATERLOO - The Washington Warriors got run over Friday night.

Lance Dunn rushed for 258 yards and three touchdowns as Waterloo West defeated the Warriors, 40-30, in a Mississippi Valley Conference game at Memorial Stadium.

Waterloo West quarterback Alexander Young ran for 114 yards as the Wahawks (2-3, 2-1) gobbled up 370 yards on the ground.

Waterloo West grabbed a 27-10 lead in the third quarter, but Washington (1-4, 0-3) pulled within 27-24 with 7:58 left in the game on a pair of touchdown scampers by Mitch Bredeson.

The Warriors got the ball again with a chance to take the lead, but quarterback Mitch Blades lost a fumble at West's 35-yard line. Young scored on a 2-yard run with 4:43 left to give the Wahawks a 34-24 advantage.

Blades threw an interception on Washington's next possession and Waterloo West took a 40-24 lead with four minutes remaining.

Washington pulled within 40-30 on a 16-yard touchdown pass from Blades to Noah Dostal, but the Warriors failed on a two-point conversation pass that could have made it an eight-point game.

Waterloo West recovered an onside kick and ran out the clock.

Blades hit 15 of 30 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Dostal caught five passes for 106 yards. Bredeson and Blades both rushed for 78 yards.
