Schulte family tops all-Metro football

Xavier quarterback Reggie Schulte was named the Player of the Year on the 2012 All-Metro Football Team on Monday.

Xavier Coach Duane Schulte, who is Reggie's father, was named the Metro Coach of the Year along with his assistant coaches with the Saints.

The Schultes helped Xavier compile a 13-1 record this season and reach the championship game of the Class 4A playoffs.

Xavier topped the all-Metro team with six first-team picks. Corbin Woods, Seth Fahnle and Schulte were first-team picks on offense, Craig Murtha and Trey Sampson were first-team picks on defense and Ryan Persick was named the first-team kicker.

Marion's first-team picks were Ethan Herren and Trev Biery on offense, along with Andrew Davis and Justin Dolley on defense.

Austin Holzer, Alex Hillyer and Grant Miller made the club from Kennedy. Justin Green, Nick Trabucco and Zach Martins made the team from Linn-Mar. Zac Gillis, Jason Oney and Mitch Blades were selected from Washington.
