Marion rally falls short at Benton

VAN HORNE -- Marion cut a 12-point deficit to four, but could get no closer and was beaten by Class 4A No. 3 Benton Community, 55-48, Friday night in Wamac Conference girls basketball.

Michalyn Mohr scored 10 points to lead Marion (3-3, 3-2). Four Indians had eight points apiece.

Sarah Petrzelka's 19 points led Benton (5-0).

MARION (48): Emi Banes 3 0-0 8, Micaela Combs 2 2-3 6, Amanda Sahm 3 2-5 8, Paige Perkins 2 4-4 8, Beth Knapp 3 1-2 8, Tessa Jordan 0 0-0 0, Michalyn Mohr 5 0-1 10. Totals 18 9-15 48.

BENTON (55): Sindt 2 0-0 5, Weekly 2 4-5 8, Roe 0 0-0 0, Wiebel 3 4-8 11, Thompson 3 3-8 10, Kullmer 0 0-0 0, Embray 1 0-0 2, Petrzelka 8 3-5 19. Totals 19 14-26 55.
