WATERLOO - Kayla Armstrong scored 13 points and collected seven steals Tuesday night to help the Xavier Saints grab a 52-49 victory against Waterloo West in Waterloo.

The Saints (11-7, 8-3) trailed by one point late in the game when Armstrong stole the ball and fed Hayley Deutmeyer for a layup and 50-49 lead.

The Saints stole the ball again and McKenna Andersen scored to make it 52-49 to help the visitors come home with one of their best wins of the season.

Waterloo West (13-5, 7-3) is ranked 10th in Class 5A and has been playing well lately. Xavier is ranked No.7 in Class 4A and won for the fifth time in its last six games.

Deutmeyer and Ashley Stulken scored 10 points apiece for Xavier. Blaire Thomas poured in 22 points for Waterloo West.

Xavier trailed 31-17 at halftime before storming back.
