It was all sixth-ranked Springville all night Friday in an 8-man mismatch against Cedar Valley Christian at the LaSalle Middle School field.

Springville scored 47 points in the first quarter and blitzed the Huskies, 91-0.

Elias Nissen scored four touchdowns as the Orioles played the entire game on the Cedar Valley half of the field.

Offensively, the Huskies had minus 19 yards rushing and four yards of total offense.

“It was disturbing to give up 91 points, but they are a very good football team and we are still only in our third year and we are improving,” said CVC Coach Ed Betsworth. “We didn’t quit playing hard and did the best we could.”

Leading players for the Huskies are given the lunch bucket award in each game. Eric Gustafson and Caleb Severson each received the award Friday.

“It is an honor to get the lunch bucket,” said Severson. “It means that we played hard and were recognized. Playing a team like Springville is a team-building experience."

“It means a lot to get the lunch bucket,” said Gustufson. “We just have to keep working hard and be a leader, that’s how we get better.”

“We have a good spirit,” said Betsworth. “Not every team is going to be like Springville and if we keep improving we are going to be successful.”

The Huskies will host West Central of Maynard next Friday night at LaSalle.
