Storyline - Washington has been on the wildest ride of any team in the state this season. The Warriors beat then-No. 2 Iowa City High, 27-24, three weeks ago at Iowa City, then came home and got trampled by No. 3 Linn-Mar 56-7 the next week. Last week they again ventured to Iowa City and demolished then-No. 9 Iowa City West, 66-37. Which team shows up tonight and does it matter?

The Warriors have clinched a playoff berth, but 6-3 sounds a lot better than 5-4 heading into the postseason.

Waterloo West - The Wahawks have lost five straight and been outscored 192-47 over that span after losing in overtime 24-21 at Dubuque Senior in Week 3. The five losses were to Linn-Mar (40-0), Waterloo East (26-7), Hempstead (35-14), Cedar Falls (49-7) and Kennedy (42-19). The combined record for those four teams is 24-12. The Wahawks are fairly balanced on offense, gaining 55 percent of their yards through the air and 45 percent on the ground. Dequayvious Martin ran for 230 yards last week against Kennedy.  Top players: QB Shawn Bowers, sr. (71-135-2-905, 5 TDs passing; 75-287, 4 TDs rushing); QB Brandon Tovar, jr. (17-26-1-212, 1 TD passing; 23-109, 0 TD rushing); RB Dequayvious Martin, jr. (124-744, 6 TDs rushing; 10-215, 1 TD receiving); WR Alex Brown, sr. (27-296, 3 TDs receiving); WR Elliott Moeller, jr. (19-247, 1 TD receiving); LB Clayton Steimel, sr. (82 tackles); LB Graham Paige, sr. (67 tackles, 4 for loss).

Washington - The Warriors are finally getting healthy. Senior RB Will Griffin (ankle surgery) played in his third game of the season last Friday at Iowa City West and ran 15 times for 181 yards and four touchdowns. Flynn Heald has a conference-best 50 receptions, including 21 in a loss to Kennedy on Sept. 9. Senior wideout Ryan Cain, who had missed most of the first four games (collarbone), caught the winning touchdown pass against City High. David Tann is a sure tackler and quick through the line at fullback. Top players: RB Will Griffin, sr. (50-262, 5 TDs rushing); QB Braedon Tovey, sr. (83-164-11-1133, 9 TDs passing; 32-171, 2 TDs rushing); WR/CB Flynn Heald, sr. (50-767, 4 TDs receiving; 12-64, 1 TD rushing); RB Mitch Bredeson, jr. (121-593, 5 TDs rushing); FB/S David Tann, sr. (67-541, 7 TDs rushing; 74 tackles, 12 for loss, 2 int.); OL/DL Storhm Henry, sr. (16 tackles); T/LB Sean Bredl, sr. (64 tackles, 6 for loss); LB/PK Michael Daughtery, sr. (49 tackles; 35-36 PATs, 2-2 FGs); P Michael Peterson (20-41.4).
